MATERIA, MEMORIA Y MOVIMIENTO

This soundscape was composed to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Mexico’s National Auto Parts Industry (INA) and premiered during the anniversary event held at the Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros in Mexico City on August 20, 2026.

The soundscape you are about to hear brings together sounds recorded within different plants of Mexico’s National Auto Parts Industry: machines, resonances, rhythms, voices, and silences.

Hidden harmonies and dissonances intertwine, revealing these factories as living spaces in constant transformation, where memory, knowledge, and experience continue to inhabit the present.

The piece unfolds as a progression, beginning with a sonic pulse that gradually takes shape as a body moving through the elements of nature: air, fire, earth, and water in motion. These elements are heard, reimagined, and transformed through the industrial environment.

QUADRAPHONIC SOUND

The piece was recorded and composed in four channels, one of the earliest forms of immersive audio. The quadraphonic system is both practical and remarkably effective at conveying the emotional qualities of sound.

Modern immersive audio systems often create a virtual soundstage with a defined orientation or frontal perspective.

In our four-channel installation, however, we created a versatile immersive space with no single front or primary listening position, allowing the sound to adapt naturally to the circular architecture of the Polyforum.
