FIELD RECORDING · SOUNDSCAPE COMPOSITION
Laboratorio de formación sonora y creación sonográfica para el Estado de Chihuahua

Recorded along Puerto de Anapra, the Río Bravo, and the border bridges of Ciudad Juárez, Óbice explores the resonances of the border wall and the acoustic traces of migration, desert, and architectures of control.
About the Work
Óbice begins with a simple act: striking the metal wall that separates Chihuahua from the United States and listening to its resonances.
From there, the piece moves through the sounds of the border landscape—the desert, the river, migration routes, bridges, and architectures of control. Together, these sounds form an acoustic territory in which natural and human environments overlap, carrying traces of displacement and of what the original project describes as a vast ecological and social shipwreck.
Field Recording
The recordings were made in May 2022 at Puerto de Anapra, along the banks of the Río Bravo, and at the border bridges of Ciudad Juárez.
The piece was created during the Taller de Sonografías, led by Tito Rivas and Mirna Castro in Chihuahua City.
